Let Me Inspire You
When I graduated hair school in 2011 I had the goal to make my clients look and feel beautiful. I got a wonderful job as an apprentice for a top salon in Calgary where I was able to take additional education and learn from some of the best in the business, bringing me closer to that goal. I was able to become a Color Educator for a major color line after only 3 years behind the chair. Every year that passed was better than the last because I had more and more clients whom I saw regularly and connected with. I loved seeing their lives progress through milestones such as marriage, children and career success. When I changed salons to pursue Color Education further it felt like my career couldn't be better.
In 2016 I got pregnant with my husband after struggling with infertility. It was a difficult pregnancy and had to go on maternity leave early but in the end I had my first child, Carlo. When I wanted to return to work there was no longer a job to return to, and I found out that I was pregnant with my second child. Because of the economy and my desire to stay with a product line I loved I took a position with a new salon that was just outside the city. While I was grateful for the position it was so far away from home and the business model encouraged me to rush and cheapen my services. This caused me to reevaluate what I value in my career. I missed having the time to really listen to my clients needs and spend the time needed to give them a great service. After having my second child, Joss, I found it too difficult to be so far especially since I had to return to work 2 months after giving birth, leading me to look at other options. I realized that the best way to do the kind of work I want to do would be to start my own business.
I was limited by the size of my business and because I would have to leave the product line I loved, I was meticulous in my research looking for new lines to work with. I discovered Oligo: a family run Canadian brand based in Quebec; and Loma: a natural line that is devoted to renewable, sustainable beauty. These products perform beautifully and allow me to perform my artistry to the best of my abilities while being aligned with my personal ethics.
My vision for inspire is to create a safe, nurturing environment where everyone can be and become their best selves. A place that encourages inner beauty and self care while also taking care of outward appearance, inspiring confidence and facilitating authentic self expression regardless of age, size or other apprehensions.
I’m so excited for the rest of this journey and to make you look and feel beautiful.
